Last Week: --------------------------- OFFSEASON ANALYSIS
This Week: --------------------------- The Texans are on the verge of being a playoff team. They have the unfortunate position of being in the same conference as the Colts, but they have closed the gap with them dramatically.
Below is a list of things I think the Texans will focus on and should focus on.
Rumors: --------------------------- Questions:
Does Steve Slaton hold on to the ball and is 2009-10 a small hiccup?
Does Owen Daniels come back healthy and are the Texans able to sign him?
Does Frank bush open up the defensive playbook and make the Texans' defense more aggressive?
Does Dunta Robinson sign after a subpar year where he was rejected a huge payraise?
Injuries: --------------------------- FREE AGENTS:
DeMeco Ryans - PAY
Kevin Walter - go
Dunta Robinson - do not give huge raise, but keep
Chester Pitts - go
Ephraim Salaam - go
John Busing - GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Owen Daniels - pay realistic. do not break bank.
Bernard Pollard - PAY
Matt turk - pay
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS: MATT SCHAUB earned a spot on the Pro Bowl roster as an alternate. A top 10 QB in the NFL and even better at times. He is a keeper in keeper leagues. The Texans must improve thier offensive line with one or two additions to help protect him better and also improve the run game. A new offensive coordinator will hopefully focus on the pass more than the run. The Texans wasted too much time this year trying to run the ball when it wasn't happening.
RUNNING BACKS: STEVE SLATON has an offseason to rectify his fumble issues and come back with a fresh start. Hopefully he will get things straight and improve and stay true to his rookie year production. ADRIAN FOSTER did enough to warrant a strong look in 2010-11. Enough for the Texans to release CHRIS BROWN. RYAN MOATS will also probably be gone. The Texans do not think he can pass block and just never gave him a legitamate shot.
WIDE RECEIVERS: ANDRE JOHNSON is the best in the business. But the Texans need another excellent receiver to allow him to get away from double teams. JAOBY JONES improved slightly and caught some big passes, but he has far too many drops. KEVIN WALTER lost a step and could not get open after a preseason injury. His role dramatically lessened this season. His first year he had a ton of garbage touchdowns and catches that overinflated his numbers. The Texans need more explosion.
TIGHT ENDS: The rookies did not have much impact this year. CASEY is going to be a very good tight end and hopefully the offseason makes him better. The question is OWEN DANILES. Will he be back? Will he be healthy? Do the Texans want him back given his lofty contract demands? Do his demands come down after a year of injury? All questions as Houston Turns!
PLACE KICKER: KRIS BROWN has GOT to be gone. He missed kick after numbing kick and lost at least three games for the Texans. Considering they finished one game out of the playoff mix, his misses were huge. Cannot possibly be brought back.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:Defensive Coordinator Frank Bush needs to find his identity and the identity of this defense. hopefully the Texans go out and get another corner and a free safety to go alongsided the must-sign free agent Bernie Pollard. Until this guy starts bringing massive amounts of pressure, I am not going to be much of a believer in him. The defense overall improved, but that is primarily because of personelle, not schemes. If we can be more aggressive, there is no reason this defense cant' be a top 10 defense in the NFL.

Last Week: --------------------------- The 2009 version of the Colts no doubt pleased many a fantasy owner. As has become the norm in the Peyton Manning era, the Colts produced several players who were worth the high draft picks used to acquire them. The following are a few of the outstanding performances turned in last year:
Manning - 4500 pass yds, 33 TDs (16 INTs)
Reggie Wayne - 100 catches, 1264 rec yds, 10 TDs
Dallas Clark - 100 catches, 1106 rec yds, 10 TDs
Joseph Addai - 828 rush yds, 10 rush TDs, 51 catches, 336 rec yds, 3 rec TDs, 1 pass TD
A few other players of note were rookie Donald Brown, rookie Austin Collie, and 2nd year man Pierre Garcon. Although it was clear that Brown would be splitting time with Addai, his numbers were still a bit disappointing compared with some projections. Meanwhile, Garcon and Collie more than picked up the slack for week 1 starter Anthony Gonzalez, who was lost for the season in that week 1 game.
Brown - 281 rush yards, 3 rush TDs, 11 catches, 169 rec yds, 0 TDs
Collie - 60 catches, 676 rec yds, 7 TDs
Garcon - 47 catches, 765 rec yds, 4 TDs
The added value in the case of Collie and Garcon is that they were drafted in very few leagues. Therefore, the savvy owner essentially gave up nothing to acquire either one.
This Week: --------------------------- The 2010 season can't start soon enough for Colts fans. In addition to the stunning come-from-ahead loss in the Super Bowl, the 2010 team looks to be deeper and more talented on paper than the team a year ago. From a fantasy perspective there is plenty to be excited about also. Manning looks as sharp as ever, Reggie Wayne is Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark might be hard-pressed to repeat his '09 numbers but is at the peak of his career, Addai should benefit from a focus on improving the running attack during the offseason (and he is in a contract year), Gonzo looks to be fully recovered from last year's injury, Collie and Garcon have a full year of experience as contributors, and Brown looks like he may also be poised to benefit from what will hopefully be a much improved running attack. The only problem fantasy-wise might be that there is only one football. Receiving stats by individual will likely be difficult to predict from week to week. Opposing defensive scheme will have a strong impact on who sees the most targets each week.
Rumors: --------------------------- The consensus seems to be that, although Gonzalez looks to be 100% healthy, he has looked rusty or otherwise ineffective during training camp and preseason thus far. Where he ends up on the depth chart is something of a mystery right now. The best guess here is that Wayne and Garcon will start on the outside with Clark / Gonzalez / Collie sharing time in the slot. It is worth noting that the Colts have gone to a 4 WR look with some consistency in the preseason.
The offensive line situation is largely uncertain at the moment, due in part to some key injuries (see below). The Colts have some fresh faces who will certainly contribute at some point (ex. 4th rounder Jacques McClendon has looked solid working at both Guard and Center), but game 1 starters are anyone's guess at the moment. One time starter-turned backup LT Tony Ugoh may end up starting at LG, but due to an injury to '09 starting LT Charlie Johnson, Ugoh has spent much of preseason spinning his wheels (and frequently false-starting) back at his old LT spot.
Rookie TE Brody Eldridge (5th rounder) has drawn rave reviews inside and outside the Colts organization. A starter at FB, TE, C, and G at times during his career at Oklahoma, Eldridge may be the single most significant addition to the Colts running game. He has surprised many in the preseason with his ability to catch the ball also (after 13 catches in his 4-year college career).
Injuries: --------------------------- Perhaps it is well-known across the league that the Colts tend to give as little injury information as possible. However, signicant injuries at the moment appear to be:
C Jeff Saturday (knee) - Had arthroscopic surgery 8/10 to remove "a loose body". Timetable announced at the time was 2-6 weeks. Current status unknown.
LT Charlie Johnson (foot) - The specific injury is unclear. Yours truly was present at camp when the injury occurred and appeared to be minor at the time. Current status unknown.
RB Joseph Addai (head) - Suffered a (mild?) concussion against GB. Claims he could have returned to the game. Seems to be on course for week 1.
MLB Gary Brackett (arm/hand) - Suffered what certainly appeared to be a break vs GB. It is reported that X-rays were negative, however. Status for week 1 unclear.
It is worth noting that oft-injured Bob Sanders and Adam Vinatieri have both played in the preseason and appear to be fully healthy.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS:
Expect another stellar year from Manning ... perhaps even better than last year.
PEYTON MANNING - Prediction 4400 YDs, 36 TDs
RUNNING BACKS:
Addai will be the workhorse for one more year, but Brown should see an increase in opportunity and output.
JOSEPH ADDAI - Prediction 1300 total YDs, 12 TDs
DONALD BROWN - Prediction 800 total YDs, 7 TDs
WIDE RECEIVERS:
Other than Wayne, don't expect huge numbers out of any one WR. Over the course of the season the wealth will be spread.
REGGIE WAYNE - Prediction 1200 YDs, 10 TDs
PIERRE GARCON - Prediction 700 YDs, 5 TDs
AUSTIN COLLIE - Prediction 600 YDs, 5 TDs
ANTHONY GONZALEZ - Prediction 500 YDs, 4 TDs
TIGHT ENDS:
Clark may not be able to match last season's historic numbers, but he is still #1 or 1a in the NFL among TEs.
DALLAS CLARK - Prediction 900 YDs, 9 TDs
PLACE KICKER:
AV is back and looks healthy, but a Colts kicker hasn't been among the fantasy elite in several years.
ADAM VINATIERI - Prediction 52 XP, 19 FG
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
Entering Larry Coyer's 2nd year as DC, the Colts have an even better chance of putting up big sack and turnover numbers. They will be in the top 10 in least points allowed and middle of the pack in yardage allowed.
Colts D - Prediction 300 YdsA/G, 18 PtsA/G, 2.5 Sacks/G, 1.75 Tunrovers/G, 3 DTDs on the season

Last Week: --------------------------- Jax-7 NE-35: This game really summed up the Jaguars season as the up and down rollercoaster ride that it has been. The defense could do nothing to even damper the Tom Brady to Randy Moss conection. And with Welker catching 13 balls for a buck forty it was just plain ridiculous. The offense was pushed arround and bullied bt the Patriots front line and tough core of linebackers. All around this game was a complete bust and just another situation where the jags needed to win and just couldnt do it.
This Week: --------------------------- With the poor rushing defense of the Browns the Jags should be able to run the ball with relative ease. Also the the browns passing offense really is breath of fresh air from having to face Manning and Brady back to back. But Jerome Harrison has had an amazing 2 weeks and he could have a big game but in all likely hood he wont. Mojo is the player you wanna keep an eye on he will have a monster of a game to finnish out his first season as a number one back. Look for him to put up atleast a buck fifty and possibly 3 touchdowns.
Rumors: --------------------------- Nothing that will affect your fantasy team.
Injuries: --------------------------- Attiyah Ellison - Knee
John Henderson - Shoulder
Torry Holt - Hand
Marcedes Lewis - Cheek?
Position Analysis: ---------------------------
QUARTERBACKS: David Garrard Will play very well managing the game and making a few big plays.
Projection: 150yds 1td 0 ints.
RUNNING BACKS: Maurice Jones-Drew Will get a good amount of carries in the cold weather so he is a must start
Prediction: 150 yards rushing, 25 yards receiving, 3 touchdowns rushing 0 td recieving
WIDE RECEIVERS: Mike Sims-Walker Should have a strong day against mediocre up browns secondary.
Projection: Sims-Walker - 5 catches, 80 yards, 1 touchdowns.
TIGHT ENDS: Marcedes Lewis is turning into one of David's favorite targets i expect a decent performance from him 5 catches 70yds
PLACE KICKER:
Josh Scobee Is lacking of late but he does have one of the stronger legs in the league
Projection: 1 Field goals, 3 extra points
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS: The defense will have a rough day trying to contain Brady. So... if you havent already.....sit em'

For the game Johnson rushed 28 times for 117 yards 2 TD's and caught 3 passes for 69 yards and score.
The only thing that went wrong for the Titans was Vince Young suffering a hamstring injury in the second quarter but appears to be able to go this upcoming week.
Tennesse's defense forced St. Louis into six punts and five interceptions on their 12 possessions.
Rob Bironas hit four field goals and hit five extra points for the Titans.

This Week: ---------------------------
Tennesse faces off against the visiting Miami Dolphins this week. The Dolphins have been playing well of late and will offer up a tough game for the Titans.
The keys to the game will depend on which running back controls the game Chris Johnson or Ricky Williams? The team with the leading rusher will have a great advantage.
Vince Young's ability to perform at his highest level will be very important for the Titans if they hope to improve on their slim play off hopes.
Rumors: ---------------------------

Titans players to play this week
If your still wondering who you should play this week for your fantasy team then you are getting closer to winning a championship.
With every game becoming more and more important for your team you have to depend on the players who got you this far.
Titans Players to play:
Chris Johnson is a must play as always.
Rob Bironas should kick a few field goals against a good Miami defense.
Kenny Britt has improved greatly over the last few weeks. If your team is short on WR's, give Britt a look as your flex player.
