Buffalo Bills

Last Week: --------------------------- With Brian Brohm as starting QB, the Bills were drilled by Atlanta 31-3.
This Week: --------------------------- I realize week 17 championship games are very difficult to prepare for with injuries and possibility of limited playing time for starters preparing for the NFL playoffs. On top of that you have to figure out which teams will play hard and which have already quit.
It certainly looked like the Bills quit last week, which wouldn't be a real surprise considering the sorry situation this organization has been in since training camp. However, there was some major news from the organization New Year’s eve as head of national scouting, Buddy Nix, was named General Manager. Finally the Bills have a ‘football man’ making football decisions. Thus, many players will be auditioning for their new boss this Sunday. Still, this wouldn’t be enough for me to recommend any Bills, but they will be playing the Colts who basically quit in the 3rd quarter of last week’s game versus the Jets. The Colts will again be sitting their starters this week, likely earlier even than last week, and those who are playing will be hard pressed to ‘get up’ for playing in Buffalo’s wintry conditions.
Rumors: ---------------------------
Injuries: --------------------------- Too numerous to list.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS:
Fitzpatrick will be back at QB for the Bills this week, but unless the Colts were starting a bunch of college kids I wouldn’t touch the Bills passing game.
140 yds. 1 INT
RUNNING BACKS:
Fred Jackson had a mere 39 yards against the Falcons last week, but ran for 80 and 99 the previous 2 weeks. He’ll receive the majority of the carries so should be in line for at least 15. Marshawn Lynch will still be a factor as well. With the weather and fact he’ll be facing backups for the majority of the game, I believe Jackson makes a solid RB2 this week. Thomas Jones ran all over the Colts once they pulled their starters. Of course, Jackson is no Jones and the Bills O line is a bunch of backups compared to the Jets, but Jackson has done well when given the chance.
85 yds. 1 TD
Marshawn Lynch will still be used and could break off a couple decent runs in replacement of Jackson. I also think Lynch will have a shot at the end zone as well.
40 yds. 1 TD
WIDE RECEIVERS:
TO will likely be playing his last game for the Bills this Sunday. He’ll certainly be happy to leave. Despite playing against backups, I still insist on avoiding the Bills passing game.
55 yds.
Except for a couple games, this has been a lost year for Evans. He’ll be hoping Nix can find him a Philip Rivers like he did as San Diego’s asst GM.
25 yds
TIGHT ENDS:
Here’s hoping the new coach knows how to use this position.
PLACE KICKER:
Lindell
2 XP 1 FG
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
Defense
The Bills defense is tempting this week based on how bad the Colts offense was when the starters were pulled. I can’t see Manning and team playing more than a half, and the weather may be a limiting factor when they are in there. The only thing holding me back from truly pushing the Bills D as a starter this week is the amount of injuries they have sustained.
Game Prediction
Game: With Colts starters playing a limited amount I see the Bills finishing out this wreck of a season with a win: 17-13.
Happy New Year!!

Miami Dolphins

Last Week: --------------------------- The Dolphins proved that last season was a fluke as they lost 27-17 last Sunday to the Houston Texans, who are now 5-0 against Miami since entering the league in 02. So long playoffs.
This Week: --------------------------- While they're not mathematically eliminated, in reality they are. The Dolphins have to beat the Steelers at home on Sunday then pray the Ravens lose at Oakland, the Broncos lose at home to the Chiefs and the Jets lose to the Bengals in the last game ever at Giants Stadium on Sunday night.
Rumors: ---------------------------
Injuries: --------------------------- RB Ricky Williams (shoulder) is probable.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS: Look for Henne to throw for at least 190 yards and 3 TD's.
RUNNING BACKS: If Williams plays, he should have around 90 yards and maybe a TD.
WIDE RECEIVERS: Start them all.
TIGHT ENDS: start Anthony Fasano on the bench.
PLACE KICKER: Dan Carpenter will have at least 3 chances.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS: Look for at least 1 turnover for the defense and some good kick and punt returns for Ted Ginn or Devon Bess.
Happy New Year to everyone. I look forward to helping all of you again next year.

New England Patriots

Last Week: --------------------------- The Pats have more or less locked up their division. They are certainly the best team in the AFC East. I would have thought The Pats would have an easier time with The Bills in December, but a win is a win and it was good for them to get that monkey off their back and get that first road win. Chances are they will be playing on the road come playoff time.
This Week: --------------------------- If you are still playing fantasy football, chances are good you are playing for a title this weekend. Good for you and good luck. The Jags have been playing up and down football this year, but The Pats generally have The Jags number. I like The Pats to close out the fantasy season with a win at home. Pats 24 Jags 17.
Rumors: ---------------------------
Injuries: --------------------------- Leigh Bodden Dec 18, 2009 Probable Thigh
Vince Wilfork Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Foot
Benjamin Watson Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Knee
Tully Banta-Cain Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Shoulder
Sam Aiken Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Shoulder
Nick Kaczur Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Shoulder
Tom Brady Dec 18, 2009 Probable Right shoulder, right finger, rib
Shawn Springs Dec 18, 2009 Probable Knee
Fred Taylor Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Ankle
Ty Warren Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Ankle
Jarvis Green Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Knee
Stephen Neal Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Ankle
Myron Pryor Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Chest
Julian Edelman Dec 18, 2009 Questionable Forearm
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS:
Brady's injuries are affecting his play. As a result we aren't getting giant fantasy production from our boy. If you are in the playoffs still with Brady as one of your QB's, you may as well ride him out. Last time Brady played The Jags was in the playoffs in 2007. He threw for over 250 yards and had three TDs. Come this Sunday, look for 200 yards and one score.
RUNNING BACKS:
The Pats will save Fred Taylor for the playoffs should he be able to make a return. In the mean time Maroney is playing very well and is a must start back. With Brady's injuries, look for The PAts to run the ball more. Lo Mo is a great play this weekend.
WIDE RECEIVERS:
Moss bounced back last week. Not in a huge, but none the less. Moss should have a nice day this Sunday, as will Welker. WIth Brady's sore pinkie finger look for Welker to get the short passes. Moss will get a jump ball in the end zone.
TIGHT ENDS:
If you are in the championship game this weekend, I don't think you had Watson on your team. He is too risky to use for the purposes of Fantasy at this point.
PLACE KICKER:
If you have Steve on your team, you have to play him every week.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Jags are a hard team to figure out. Sometimes they mess the bed, and other time they bring it. I dont like The Pats D this weekend, as I think Jones-Drew will gash them big time.
Good luck to all those hunting for a fantasy championship!

New York Jets
By: Bob Smith Updated: 1/2/2010
Please access our Premium Products for the New York Jets Team Capsule, Player Rankings/Statistics, Crystal Ball Projections, Fantasy Recommendations and much more.
Last Week: --------------------------- The Jets, after hanging tight with the Colts' A Team, (trailing 15-10 in the middle of the 3rd quarter), turned up the heat against Curtis Painter and the Paintettes and came away with a 29-15 victory.
This Week: --------------------------- It's very simple this week - beat the Bengals and earn a spot in the playoffs the following week for a rematch in Cincinnati.
Rumors: --------------------------- None
Injuries: ---------------------------
All skill players are as healthy as can be expected this late in the season.
Position Analysis: --------------------------- QUARTERBACKS: Mark Sanchez will once again be asked to do his best Trent Dilfer imitation - hand the ball off and rely on the defense to take care of business. There's no way Sanchez should be used in any format - 150 yds and a TD are about as much anyone can expect this week.
RUNNING BACKS: Thomas Jones will once again be the focal point of the offense and should be able to run for 90 yds and a TD. Shonn Greene has seen his role increase of late and could be a decent flex play if your regular backs are hurt or resting for the playoffs. Greene will manage 75 yds and a TD against Cincy.
WIDE RECEIVERS: Jericho Cotchery and Braylon Edwards are to be avoided at all costs this week as the Jets will try to minimize turnovers by keeping the ball on the ground. Cotchery and Edwards will both be in the 50-60 yd range with Edwards grabbing the lone TD pass of the game for the Jets.
TIGHT ENDS: Dustin Keller will probably catch 3 or 4 balls for 30-40 yds - obviously not a recommended option.
PLACE KICKER: Jay Feely and the kicking game got back on track last week - look or 1 FG and 3 PAT's from Feely this week.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS: The Jets D/ST came up huge last week, first with Brad Smith's 106 yd. KOR for a TD to open the 2nd half and then the strip sack by Calvin Pace that resulted in a defensive TD. The Jets are hungry to finish things off and make the playoffs and their Defense will carry them there. I'm projecting 4 sacks and 2 picks against the QB combo of Carson Palmer and J.T. "but you can call me Curtis" O'Sullivan. Darrelle Revis will take special pleasure in shutting down (if not shutting up, since we know that's not possible) Chad Johnson. And by the way Chad, "85" in Spanish is "ochenta y cinco", not "ocho cinco". If you're going to be a jackass at least be an accurate one I always say.
PREDICTION: Sorry to break it to the fans of the Texans, Dolphins, Jaguars, etc. but these are not the SOJ (Same Old Jets) - (he says with fingers crossed...) Gang Green will come through and emerge with a 24-13 victory over the Bengals, earning a rematch in Cincinnati in the divisional round of the playoffs.
