How do I give points to a defense for a shutout?

To give points to the defense for a shutout, choose the "Points Allowed" category, choose the "Use Increments" option, and enter the following in the grid:

0 - 0   x points

How do I specify bonus points in the fantasy scoring system?

If you league gives bonus points for yardage (Lets use 3 points every 100 yards rushing as an example), and does not give points for under 100 yards rushing, you should use the "Use Increments" option and enter it like:

100 - 999 = 3 points

If you league gives bonus points for yardage (Lets use 3 points every 100 yards rushing as an example), and also gives 1 point for every 10 yards rushing (always rounding down), you should use the "Use Increments" option and enter it like:
10 - 19 = 1 point
20 - 29 = 2 points
...
90 - 99 = 9 points
100 - 119 = 13 points
120 - 129 = 14 points

NOTE: A quicker way to enter this scoring would be to use the "Auto-Populate Grid" button. Clicking on this button will prompt you to fill out a screen with info about your league rules for the selected stat category. Based on your responses, the grid will automatically be filled with the scoring ranges for the current stat category.

If your league gives 6 points for the touchdown and gives bonus points for the length of the TD (i.e. 1 point from 21 - 35 yards; 2 points for 36 to 50 yds; 3 points for 51 - 75 yards; 4 points for over 75 yards), you should use the "Use Increments" option and enter it like:
1 - 20 = 6 points
21 - 35 = 7 points
36 - 50 = 8 points
51 - 75 = 9 points
75 - 110 = 10 points

NOTE: A quicker way to enter this scoring would be to use the "Auto-Populate Grid" button. Clicking on this button will prompt you to fill out a screen with info about your league rules for the selected stat category. Based on your responses, the grid will automatically be filled with the scoring ranges for the current stat category.

How do I deduct points for negative yardage?

To deduct for negative yardage, choose "Fantasy Scoring System" from the main menu, then choose the "Miscellaneous" button. Then, check the "Include negative yardage" option.

How can I verify that I entered my leagues scoring system in correctly?

To verify that your scoring system is correct, perform the following:

1) After entering your leagues scoring system for one position, make sure and click the "Apply To All Positions" button if your league uses the same scoring rules for all of the positions. Make use of the "Test" button on the fantasy scoring screens to verify that you entered the scoring system correctly.

2) Choose "Scoring Options" under the "Fantasy Scoring System Menu". There is a section where you specify the number of decimals to use for the fantasy points, as well as the rounding to use for the fantasy points. Make sure these conform to your leagues rules.

3) Choose "Update Fantasy Points" from the "Statistics" menu, click the boxes for 2003, 2004, 2005, and the "All Weeks" option for 2006, and press "Update". This will update all the fantasy points for each player for this year and the last three years based on your leagues scoring system.

4) Choose "Statistics" from the main menu, then choose "Player/Team Stats". Use this screen to check the fantasy points for each player, making sure they are correct.

5) If the fantasy points are not correct, check your scoring system by running the "Fantasy Scoring System" report. If you make a change to the scoring system, you MUST repeat step 3.

6) If the fantasy points are still not correct, run the "Detailed Scoring" report to see exactly how the fantasy points for a player are being calculated.

7) If you still can't figure out what you are doing wrong, export the "Fantasy Scoring System" report to Word for Windows and send it as an e-mail attachment (or export it to text and include it in the e-mail) to support@footballsoftware.com. Include in the e-mail a very detailed example of a player that is not getting his points calculated correctly. If you are not very detailed, it may take a few e-mails back-and-forth to solve the problem. Please e-mail instead of calling, as it is much, much easier to solve the problem this way.

Can I customize the scoring system in to fit my league?

Yes! Fantasy Commissioner allows you to enter your leagues scoring system. Fantasy Commissioner supports hundreds of different scoring rules.

Why are players getting fantasy points on their bye weeks?

Go to the "Miscellaneous" screen on the "Fantasy Scoring System" menu. You likely have checked the "Carry over points for players on a bye week". Uncheck this and do the "Update Fantasy Points" for the week that is showing the fantasy points.

Why are players getting fantasy points for weeks in the NFL that have not been played yet?

It sounds like you used the "Create 2006 test stats" option but did not use the "Reset league" option. You will need to use the "Reset league" option to clear the stats. Then, import the weekly stats again for all the weeks.

How do I give points to the Special Team for a fumble return TD that happened on a kickoff?

Unfortunately, our stat provider does not separate fumble recovery TD's/safeties into ones t hat happened when the defensive team was on the field and ones when the special team was on the field. So, all fumble recovery TD's/safeties are under one category. You will have to use the "additional points" screen to take away the fantasy points for this.

Our league uses both head-to-head scoring and total points scoring. Does Fantasy Commissioner Desktop support this?

If your league includes both head-to-head scoring and total points scoring, it can be supported in Fantasy Commissioner. To do this, choose a "head-to-head" league on the "League Info" screen, and use the "Team Ranking" report to see the overall point leaders, and the "Fantasy Standings" report to see the head-to-head leaders.
