NY Giants rookie RB David Wilson, no stranger to fumbling in college, didn’t waste any time getting his first NFL fumble out of the way as he fumbled on his second career carry and appeared to be tearing up coming off the field. I have no problem with this – it shows he cares, but I want to see him hold onto the damn ball!
Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard issued a warning that could contribute to some sort of fine after the game if things go as he plans. He warned Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green that if he comes across the middle this week he will pay for it. If Green gets hit hard and a flag is thrown you can be sure the fine will be higher for the defender thanks to this broadcast.
According to Forbes Magazine, the Dallas Cowboys are the NFL’s highest valued franchise at $2.1B. Even more interesting is that if you read the entire list you’ll see the Kansas City Chiefs are valued at $11.37.
NY Jets WR Santonio Holmes still can’t keep his big mouth shut. This time he’s adding more pressure to QB Mark Sanchez by revealing to the world that the starting QB was “floored” and “rattled” by the Tim Tebow trade. Nobody needs to know this Santonio. How about you shut your trap and be a team player for once.
Maryland House of Delegates member Emmett C. Burns Jr. wins the a-hole of the week award for his recent letter to the Baltimore Ravens owner asking him to censor LB Brendon Ayanbadejo and basically make him stop vocalizing his support for gay marriage. Free speech is still an American right, correct? How about the people of Maryland get this elected official the hell out of office.
The general feeling around the media and league is that the replacement officials performed well in the Cowboys – Giants game. While this certainly adds pressure to the referees who have been locked out and bolsters the league’s stance, it was one game people. Let’s see what the take is on this situation after a full slate of games is played this weekend. I’m thinking it will be less positive for the league come Monday morning.
Marshawn Lynch is a game-time decision. Adrian Peterson will likely play but only for about 10 snaps. MJD is the backup due to his holdout. Jonathan Stewart is 50/50. Trent Richardson should be fine to start. Arian Foster limited in practice. Rashard Mendenhall practiced fully? Ryan Matthews finally concedes he will not play this week. What the heck is up with the RBs? In this new pass-happy NFL the RBs should be fresh and healthy, but it seems like half the league’s starting RBs are hurt, limited or out this week. Here’s to Cedric Benson, Rashad Jennings, Isaac Redman, Ronnie Brown, Ben Tate, DeAngelo Williams, Toby Gerhart and Robert Turbin.
