With over two decades of fantasy football experience – the American kind – Fantasy Insights has seen the hobby’s popularity grow beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.  Every fall millions of Americans draft their teams, talk their trash, and form bonds through which they increase their enjoyment of the sport.  In recent years, the sport the rest of the world calls “football” has finally cracked the American market and is here to stay.  It only makes sense to complete the merging of cultures by integrating our knowledge and love of the fantasy sports side and adapting it to soccer. 

It isn’t as though we’re the first to think of this.  Most of the major sports coverage sites (ESPN, Fox, etc.) already provide fantasy games, as does Yahoo and the official fantasy game of the Premier League.  The formats offered; however, are not necessarily in line with what those familiar with American fantasy sports have come to expect.  We hope to eventually expand our soccer coverage to daily blogs, coverage of other international leagues and the MLS, and to even host fantasy leagues that offer more traditional “American-style” drafting and auction formats.  For now, we wanted to offer our readers a way to bridge the gap. 

Bridging that gap encompasses two things.  First, we wanted to provide a quick overview of the Premier League, the teams, and the competition formats that can be vastly different from American sports.  Just because our readers aren’t intimately familiar with the workings of international soccer doesn’t mean they’re idiots.  It’s hard to find resources that are aimed at the “entry level” fan who fits that description. 

Secondly, we want to provide analysis on the leagues and players available so that our readers can jump right in and participate in the leagues available today.  Hopefully this report offers enough analysis so that it will valuable to those already familiar with the leagues and those who already participate in the fantasy soccer game available.
